ARC found in Coventry
Coventry Artspace has commissioned UK artists, curators and creative minds to investigate what their organisation does and how they do it via five Artspace Research Commissions (ARC); each programme strand has it own theme; UNITE, TRANSFORM, GENERATE, HIJACK and PIONEER. The commissions are designed to explore current areas of Artspace interest, culminating in a programme of public events and open discussions.
Redhawk Logistica will be leading the TRANSFORM commission, set up to investigate and make artistic interventions in Coventry’s underused urban spaces; particularly those that can geographically or conceptually connect audiences to the Artspace building and Artspace to discussions relevant in the urban environment. The city itself becomes a playing field for interesting temporary artistic engagements. Watch this space for details of what we will be doing!
Coventry Artspace is one of the city’s leading independent art facilities and the Artspace building houses 14 affordable artists’ studios and shared community facilities. The ARC Programme has been funded by Arts Council England and will help shape Coventry Artspace’s artistic vision for the future. The ARC programme will also include ARC SYMPOSIUM in April 2013 to showcase the results of the ARC programme, alongside a range of international contemporary art projects that engage communities as more than spectators.
